Cruiser hire

For 2009 we are proud to offer the Broads' most up-to-date hire boat fleet, operating from a brand new base in Horning and comprising a range of distinctive cruisers, including some which are completely new and of an original and exciting desgin. Ferry Marina's friendly and efficient staff will ensure that everyone has a wonderful, unforgettable and enjoyable boating experience.

Investing in the future

Over the past 30 years, Len Funnell has invested in the future of the Norfolk Broads and his latest initiative is a new low-wah hull, upon which the flagship craft of our new hire fleet are based. Designed by renowned marine architect John Moxham, the hull provides maximum stability with virtually no wash to harm the river banks. Internally you will immediately appreciate the spacious and comfortable layout of these new models, conceived from the outset as a new approach to holiday boating. Afloat, despite their modern design, the boats will pass under most Broads bridges other than the very lowest, at suitable states of the tide.

The Broads Authority have produced an excellent video guide to boating on the broads, covering an overview of the Broads as a boating holiday destination through to detailed instruction and guidance on boat handling. The guide is available for viewing here.

How far can I go during a short break?

A typical short break's holiday on your boat could take you to the popular village of Wroxham (home to the famous Roys Department store), Salhouse Broad with its lovely sandy beach and woodland walks and Ranworth where a boardwalk nature trail leads to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust’s floating visitor centre. You can also climb to the top of the 100ft tower of St Helen’s Church, whichearns you an amazing view of the local broads & rivers.

How far can I go for a week or longer?

For a week or longer, your holiday could take in the village of Potter Heigham and the River Thurne, South Walsham and Barton Broads, or venture south into the tranquil waters of the Yare and Waveney, where you will find open marshes, great fishing (in season), the vibrant and historic city of Norwich and the popular river destinations of Beccles, Oulton Broad and Waveney River Centre.

Passage under Broads bridges

Wroxham, Potter Heigham and Beccles all have low bridges through which some boats will not pass at any time (bridge restrictions apply). Water and tidal conditions may make bridges impassable to ALL boats at certain times.

On board

On board you will find a TV & DVD player, microwave, 12v socket (for mobile phones etc, you need to bring a car charging lead), bed linen (duvets), well equipped galley, warm air heating, toilet & shower, buoyancy aids, hairdryer & boat handling manual. Please bring your own towels.
